Unless you have been living under a rock in recent years, you will have noticed that every November men decide to grow hair on their upper lip. While some may see it as a 70’s throwback it is actually for a good cause, helping to raise awareness of mens health issues. Movember is all about bringing back the moustache, having fun and doing it for a serious cause; men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and male mental health.
The money raised by the Movember Foundation all goes to charity, the New Zealand Cancer Foundation and the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.
Mensworks will be supporting Movember by taking part in various events on the 1st of Movember to give competitors a fresh face to start their growth. Wet shaves will be performed on “Mo Bro’s” at the Shakey Isles Cafe in Britomart Auckland. We are also committed to ensuring your Mo looks the best it can through the month of Movember, just ask us to give it a trim next time you are in, and you never know, you may be ready to throw some wax at it by the end of the month! (Just like our mate Salvador Dali above)
For more information on how to take part in Movember please visit the Foundation website http://nz.movember.com
Over the next few days the Auckland Viaduct will play host to the Barfoot & Thompson World Triathlon Grand Final. This will involve some road closures and disruption to traffic. Mensworks will be open during this period and suggest you plan your travel before heading down to the viaduct.
The Triathlon World Champs is a 9 day festival that runs from Sunday 14 October until Monday 22 October 2012. It includes a series of triathlon races, competitor and sponsor functions and a variety of ancillary events that will take place during festival week at the event hub on Queens Wharf. The key race days are: Saturday 20 October, Sunday 21 October using the Auckland CBD course.
Most of the event will take place east of the CBD and road closures around Mensworks will be minimal. Parking will still be available off Fanshawe Street.
